Community Programming

Community Programming at North Star House

A historic setting for classes, workshops and gatherings in Grass Valley, CA

We believe historic places stay meaningful when they are actively used, experienced and shaped by the communities around them.

We want North Star House to be a place where the community comes to learn, create, connect and discover. A place where someone can take a class, hear a new idea, make something with their hands, meet other creative people or simply experience something they may not have found anywhere else.

Through partnerships with local artists, educators, makers, gardeners, musicians, cultural organizations and community groups, North Star House is developing a growing calendar of workshops, classes, creative gatherings and community events in Grass Valley.

Our goal is to create opportunities that feel welcoming, useful and inspiring. Some programs may focus on art or creativity. Others may center on gardening, music, education, local culture, hands-on skills or community connection. What they share is a purpose: bringing people together in a space that encourages participation, curiosity and new ideas.

How Can You Host a Class or Program at North Star House?

There isn't just one way to bring a class, workshop or community program to North Star House. Every idea is different, and we're open to finding an arrangement that works for both the program host and the House.

Share Revenue

Bring the program, and our team will help carry it. North Star House can help support promotion, registration, setup and day-of hosting. In return, ticket revenue is shared between you and the House. We'll agree on the split together, based on ticket price, expected attendance, materials and how much support the program needs.

Create a Custom Partnership

A custom partnership is priced around your program depending on the spaces and times you need, setup, cleanup and staff support, any materials or equipment from the House, and how the program serves the community.

Creative Exchange

Trade your time and talent for space. Local creatives can volunteer at North Star House in exchange for weekday use of the property. Your hours help care for the estate, and the time you earn gives you room to create here in return.
