An Autumnal Evening in Another Era

Step into another era for a grand autumnal evening at the historic North Star House, hosted by Lord William and Lady Diana.

From 4 to 7 PM on October 17, guests are invited to experience the estate through an afternoon of period-inspired dancing, games, crafts, music, and autumn traditions. Take part in as much or as little as you like as you explore the House and grounds.

Begin with a promenade through North Star House and learn a few of the customs and courtesies of another era, including bowing, curtsying, and the proper way to invite a partner to dance. Guests can join demonstrations and instruction in courtly dances, the minuet, polka, and other period-inspired dances throughout the evening.

Those who prefer not to dance will have plenty to explore. Visit the historic Card Room for an old-fashioned card game, create a traditional clove-studded pomander orange in the Craft Room, enjoy seasonal refreshments, and take in the autumn atmosphere throughout the estate.

A period-inspired hairstyling demonstration will also be featured, with guests having the opportunity to enter a raffle to take part in the transformation.

Period-inspired attire from any era is encouraged for those who would like to dress for the occasion, but costumes are completely optional.

For guests wearing a ball gown, we recommend a skirt length approximately two inches from the ground or around ankle length. A hoop or full petticoat can also help lift the fabric and make walking and dancing more comfortable.
