A Creative Evening at North Star House: May Arts Council Meetup

On May 1st, 2025 - North Star House welcomed a vibrant gathering of artists, makers, and creatives from across the county for the May Arts Council Creative Meetup. It was a joy to see our historic venue come alive with conversation, collaboration, and community spirit. The evening offered a meaningful opportunity for connection in a space rooted in history and creativity.

Guests were treated to a special tour of North Star House led by board member Rich Hill, offering a glimpse into the rich history and architectural beauty of our space. Board member Ken Underwood followed with the powerful story behind the house’s ongoing restoration, highlighting the remarkable efforts of volunteers who are bringing new life to this historic site. Artist in Residence Jen McGuire also shared about her upcoming classes.

As the evening came to a close, attendees were invited to take part in a unique mindfulness and movement activation hosted by Nevada County Arts Council in collaboration with Move Your Body Calm Your Mind. Led by Michaelyn of the Nevada County Arts Council, the group joined in a Tsalagi-inspired 7 Pointed Star Dance of Life: a grounding and beautiful way to end the evening.
