On September 21st, the North Star House came alive in a special way. Not with a wedding or public event, but with a celebration dedicated entirely to the people who make everything here possible: our volunteers.
From the restoration crews and docents to event helpers, landscape volunteers, and committee members, our volunteers are the heartbeat of the House. Their countless hours of dedication ensure that the history of Julia Morgan’s masterpiece is preserved while the future of North Star House continues to grow.
More than just a party, it was a reminder of the unique community that has formed around this place: people who give their time not for recognition, but because they care deeply about preserving history and creating a gathering space for generations to come. And while not everyone was able to attend, we want every volunteer to know that their contributions were very much felt and appreciated.
Whether swinging a hammer, guiding tours, helping plan these special events, or simply lending a supportive hand, each volunteer leaves a lasting mark. The positive energy of the evening carried forward, sparking new ideas, renewed energy, and even inspiring new gifts of support to help restoration efforts continue.
On behalf of the North Star House board, staff, and community: thank you. Thanks to your dedication, the North Star House is not only being preserved, but alive with possibility for the future.
