Youth Internship Program

The North Star House Youth Internship Program is designed to give young people meaningful experience in a professional setting. Interns learn directly from mentors, have the opportunity to explore different fields, and develop skills that can be carried into future jobs, college, or creative projects. Participants are supervised by North Star House staff or lead volunteers and are given meaningful responsibilities based on their interests and readiness.

Each placement runs for 8 consecutive weeks within one of our published program terms. Interns commit to a consistent weekly schedule for the duration of their term, typically averaging 4–8 hours per week depending on availability and season. Spring and Fall placements are structured to fit within the academic calendar, while Summer placements may allow for additional hours. This is an unpaid educational internship designed to provide mentorship, skill-building, and professional exposure within a nonprofit environment.

As an active restoration project and functioning event venue, North Star House offers exposure to multiple areas of real-world experience. Students may choose to focus in one primary area or explore several throughout their term. Each placement is thoughtfully designed around the student’s interests, goals, and strengths, allowing for both depth and exploration within a working nonprofit environment.
