On May 10, 2025, Angela and David celebrated their May outdoor wedding at North Star House on one of those spring days when the entire estate feels especially alive.
Everything was green. The trees were full, the lawns were bright, and the historic property created a naturally beautiful backdrop for a wedding that felt elegant, romantic, and completely at home here.
From a ceremony surrounded by trees to an East Lawn reception and a first dance in the courtyard, their wedding made beautiful use of the many indoor and outdoor spaces available at North Star House weddings.
A May Outdoor Wedding Surrounded by Greenery
May is an especially beautiful time for an outdoor wedding in Grass Valley. Angela and David’s celebration showed exactly why.
The grounds at North Star House were filled with fresh spring greenery, creating a lush backdrop that needed very little embellishment. The couple chose soft white florals, natural greenery, elegant tablescapes, and thoughtful décor that complemented the estate rather than competing with it.
Every detail felt connected to the property.

An Outdoor Reception on the East Lawn
After the ceremony, guests gathered on the East Lawn for an outdoor reception framed by towering trees and views of the historic house.
Long tables, white umbrellas, fresh flowers, and carefully selected details transformed the lawn into a beautiful reception space while allowing the setting itself to remain part of the experience.
One of the things we love most about weddings at North Star House is how couples can move throughout the property during the day. Each space feels distinct, but everything remains connected.
For Angela and David, the East Lawn became a relaxed and elegant place to gather, dine, and celebrate together.
A First Dance in the Historic Courtyard
Later in the evening, Angela and David brought their guests into the courtyard for their first dance.
Surrounded by the historic architecture of North Star House, with family and friends gathered around them, the moment felt intimate and cinematic at the same time.
The courtyard offers a completely different atmosphere from the open lawns and gardens, making it especially beautiful for first dances, evening celebrations, and quiet moments as the day transitions into night.

Their day was captured using both film and digital photography, along with drone images that showed the scale of the property and just how green North Star House was that May.
The combination created a beautiful record of the celebration.
Film photography gave many of the portraits a soft, timeless feeling. Digital photography captured candid moments, décor, and the energy of the celebration, while the aerial photography placed the wedding within the larger landscape of the estate.
