This year’s Christmas decorations were created by Rebekah Freeman, whose thoughtful eye brought a gentle and timeless warmth to the North Star House.
Rebekah has a gift for understanding what the House needs. Every detail was placed with intention, choosing holiday elements that honor its architecture and allow the beauty of each room to shine. The décor feels subtle and welcoming, full of the quiet nostalgia the holidays naturally carry.
As you walk through, you may find yourself imagining how the Foote family might have experienced the holiday season here. The traditional greenery and soft seasonal accents feel like the kind of décor they may have used to bring brightness into the winter months.
Visitors will experience a warm, festive atmosphere that feels both historic and personal. Rebekah’s work reminds us that small details can transform a space, and that care and thoughtfulness create the strongest sense of home.
You can enjoy the House dressed for the season during our docent-led tour next Thursday, December 11th from 1–3pm, or join us for Christmas at the Historic North Star House on December 13th. Tickets are available while supplies last at www.NorthStarHouse.org/calendar

The House looks spectacular, indeed. Rebeckah is a remarkable individual and the group is so fortunate to have her participation. Beautifully done throughout, exceptional. Happy Holidays to all. Peace on Earth. EAS in DC
What an amazing transformation of a house almost in ruin into this shining beauty. Well done all who lovingly scraped and sanded and repaired a beautifully designed home, filling it accurately and artistically with furnishings of the period, breathing life into it once again as though the Footes just stepped away momentarily.
I am so thankful for this article and the beautiful photos attached. I am also very impressed with the very thoughtful detail that Rebekah Freeman has lovingly undertaken in decorating the North Star House for the holidays. I look forward to joining you on December 13. Jacque Bromm
